Solar for Business
Take Control of Your Energy
Every unit of energy you generate is one less you buy. Solar panels for business, from rooftop commercial solar PV to battery storage, cut your bills, reduce carbon and give you back control of rising costs, all while showing customers you mean business.

What’s the cost of doing nothing?
You’re likely overpaying on energy by up to 30%
If your business is still relying solely on grid power, you’re probably paying more than you need to, sometimes 20–30% more. And that’s not just a line item on your bills; it’s a silent drain on your margins. You’re already paying for energy, why not choose low-cost, reliable energy instead?
You’re vulnerable to future price hikes and supply volatility
Let’s be honest, energy markets aren’t getting any calmer. Price surges, supply risks, and regulatory changes are creating a rollercoaster few businesses want to be on. In short, wait-and-see is often the most expensive strategy.
Solar Installs are at an All Time High: Helping to cut costs and meet Supply Chain Demands
Solar for many businesses can be a commercial advantage. More and more business are already turning to solar and renewable tech to reduce operating costs, hitting carbon goals, and ticking off ESG commitments in the boardroom,
Your business may miss out on limited grid capacity
Here’s the bit that often gets overlooked: grid capacity is limited, especially for commercial-scale solar. Once it’s gone, it’s gone, and what’s left gets more expensive. Acting now can lock in a better deal and help you avoid the queue.

Consultation & Solar PV Installation

Solar PV & Voltage Optimisation Installation

Consultation & Solar PV Installation
Soper of Lincoln, a BMW and MINI dealership, wanted to cut energy costs across a multi-building site and support BMW’s net zero commitments. Green Shield Group designed and installed a 172.69kWp solar PV system across three buildings, using SolarEdge inverters and JA Solar panels. The system generates an estimated 144,700kWh a year, reduces grid electricity purchases by 35.6% and cuts carbon emissions by 31,834kg of CO2 annually. It saved £50,645 in its first year and is projected to pay for itself in 3.6 years.
Crowne Plaza London Ealing, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, wanted to reduce operating costs on a busy London hotel site with limited available roof space. Green Shield Group installed a 52.48kWp solar PV system, maximising every usable section of roof, alongside a 359kVA voltage optimisation unit to improve overall energy efficiency. The system generates over 46,000kWh annually, with 100% used on-site, cuts carbon emissions by 10,730kg of CO2 a year, and is projected to pay for itself in under three years.
Boeing Flight Services in Crawley needed a solar solution that could maximise generation across a large industrial site with mixed building types. Green Shield Group designed a 453.56kWp system combining roof-mounted and wall-mounted solar PV, an industry-leading approach that made use of surfaces most installers would overlook. The system now generates 448,845kWh of clean energy each year, with 100% consumed on-site, cutting carbon emissions by 94,706kg of CO2 annually.
Who we're already working with

How we approach renewable technology
Green Shield Group works as your long-term energy partner, delivering projects end to end. We design the right solution for your site, arrange the funding (if required), and manage the full installation. One partner, one point of contact, from first idea to a fully running system.
From warehouses to city centre hotels, every site tells a different story. We build your proposal from your real consumption data, designs that follow that data, and a clear rationale for every decision, why this array, why this return. No inflated projections. Just a system specified around your site, with all the working laid out.
We don't disappear after the panels go on
Once your system’s live, we stay involved. monitoring performance and making sure it delivers everything it promised. That commitment to quality, communication and reliability carries through for the life of the asset.
Funding that's actually straightforward
Solar doesn’t have to mean a big upfront bill. Buy outright, spread the cost, or go with a Power Purchase Agreement and pay nothing upfront, whichever route fits your business goals and cashflow.

Still unsure whether solar is a good idea?
The information we provide is clear, straightforward, and grounded in reality. We believe that when you have all the facts, you can make the best decision for your business. No hidden agendas, just honest insights to help you move forward with confidence.
Find out what your site could really save
If you have 20 minutes, let’s jump on a call and we’ll answer your questions, explore your options, and help you work out what’s best for your business or organisation.
A discovery call with our team walks through your current bill, your load profile and your site. It’s worth your time whether or not you go ahead, because you’ll leave understanding exactly what you can influence on your energy bill.
Solar Panels for Business: Common Questions
Will solar work for my type of business?
Commercial solar suits most sectors with roof space or land available, manufacturing, warehousing, retail, hospitality, agriculture, healthcare and education among them. What matters most is your energy usage pattern and available space; we assess both during a site visit.
Is my roof or site suitable for commercial solar?
We assess roof condition, orientation, shading and your actual consumption data before proposing a system size. Most flat and pitched commercial roofs can take solar. Where the roof isn’t suitable, ground-mounted solar or solar carports can put land or car parks to work instead.
Do I need planning permission?
Most commercial rooftop solar falls under permitted development rights, so planning permission usually isn’t required. Ground-mount systems, listed buildings and certain roof types can trigger additional requirements, we check this as part of your site assessment.
Will grid capacity limit what I can install?
It can affect export limits in some areas, and capacity varies by substation. That’s exactly why we check DNO capacity early in the process. For export, in many cases, pairing solar with battery storage lets you maximise self-consumption even where export capacity is constrained.
What happens to unused electricity?
Any generation you don’t use on-site can be exported to the grid through the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), earning you a rate per kWh. Adding battery storage lets you keep more of that generation for your own use instead.
Do I need to fund the installation myself?
No. You can buy outright, spread the cost, or use a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), where the system is funded for you and you pay for the electricity it generates, typically at a lower rate than your current supplier charges. We’ll talk you through which route suits your cashflow during your discovery call, or you can read how PPAs work and see all purchasing options.
How long does installation take?
Most commercial rooftop systems are installed within 2–6 weeks of design sign-off, depending on scale and roof access.
What ongoing support do you provide?
We monitor system performance after installation and can stay involved for the life of the asset, backed by our national accreditations (ISO 9001, UKAS, CHAS, SafeContractor, Constructionline Gold).
How do I get started?
Book a site assessment and we’ll walk your site, review your energy usage, and put together a proposal covering system size, projected savings and payback.
