Green Shield Group has partnered with The Partnership Trust to deliver new solar installations for schools in Bristol and the South West. This initiative helps schools manage rising energy costs and make measurable progress toward net-zero goals. The collaboration began earlier this year with a review of the Trust’s existing solar infrastructure. The teams then identified additional sites where renewable upgrades would be most effective. Three installations are now complete, and a fourth at Chew Magna Primary School is in the planning stage.
What’s Been Delivered So Far
The mendip school
A 30 kWp solar PV system is now operational at The Mendip School. It is designed for a self-consumption rate of nearly 77%, enabling the school to use most of the energy it generates. In the first year, the installation is expected to reduce bills by over £7,000 while providing clean power for daily operations.
Weston All Saints Primary School
Weston All Saints Primary School now has a 40.95 kWp system, expected to generate over 41,000 kWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the yearly energy use of 14 homes. The school is projected to save over £9,000 in the first year and significantly reduce carbon emissions.
Fosse Way School
Fosse Way School has benefited from a larger 85.54 kWp solar PV system, designed to deliver an estimated 84% self-consumption rate. The installation is projected to save nearly £22,279 in its first year alone, providing significant cost relief while supplying clean, on-site renewable energy for the school’s operations.
These projects support the Trust’s broader efforts to reduce emissions, manage costs, and promote sustainability within school communities.
