Green Shield Group is pleased to announce a new partnership repowering solar farms across Rivington Energy's portfolio as we continue to support the long-term performance and sustainability of UK solar infrastructure. As part of this partnership, we have recently begun repowering Deepy Ground Solar Farm, based in Devon, which was originally constructed in 2013.
Repowering a solar farm involves upgrading older solar technology with newer, more efficient systems while utilising the existing site footprint and infrastructure. At Deepy Ground Solar Farm, this includes:
- Removing and responsibly recycling outdated solar panels
- Repairing and upgrading mounting and framing systems where required
- Installing new, high-efficiency solar panels designed to improve long-term performance and reliability
Advances in solar technology in recent years mean that repowering solar farms can significantly increase their output. In many cases, sites can achieve up to three times greater energy generation while operating within the same physical footprint.

Supporting the Long-Term Performance of UK Solar Farms
Projects like this help maximise generation capacity, improve operational efficiency, and extend the lifespan of existing renewable energy infrastructure without the need for entirely new developments.
The Deepy Ground Solar Farm is the first of a shared commitment with Rivington Energy to improve the performance, reliability, and long-term value of renewable energy assets across the UK.
As we approach the point where older equipment begins to limit performance, repowering solar farms is becoming an important solution for asset owners looking to maximise returns and future-proof their sites.
If your solar farm is operating with older technology, Green Shield Group can help assess whether repowering could improve performance, efficiency, and long-term output. Contact our team to learn more about how we can support your solar farm repowering project.
